People say our classes are "Beginner-friendly, easy to understand, and very helpful".

We offer a variety of classes, from the basic to the more specialized for those who have some experience.

Computer Basics, Internet Follow-up, Microsoft Word and Getting Started with Library to Go Ebooks are hands-on classes held in our Computer Training Room.

Introductory sessions on iPads and tablets, social media (Facebook & Twittter), and ebooks & e-Readers are held in the Welsh Hall. For more information on these classes, and to find out how to register, visit the Community Computing Centre or call us at 604-925-7405.

  Computer Basics  
   
  A gentle introductory class on how to use a mouse and keyboard, open and close a program, and navigate menus. No experience is necessary.  
   
  Beginners' Internet  
   
  Introduces basic web skills, and how to search. Designed for people with minimal computer skills.  
   
  Internet Follow-Up  
   
  For those who have completed the Beginners’ Internet course, and want to improve their searching skills and learn more about how to use the Web.  
   
  Introduction to ebooks and e-readers  
   
  Do you love to travel but find it challenging to pack enough books? Are you curious about purchasing or borrowing an e-reader but don't know where to start? Come to this 1 1/2 hour seminar, get your feet wet, and bring your questions. We discuss our Kindle lending program, the differences between e-readers and how to decide which is right for you, how to find and download library ebooks, tablets and other devices for reading ebooks. Offered most months, no registratoin required.  
   
  Introduction to Social Networking  
   
  Have you ever wondered what your friends, children or grandchildren are doing on Facebook or Twitter? Do you have a Facebook or Twitter account but don’t know how to use it? This seminar is great for the uninitiated and/or the newly introduced. We cover the basics, including posting updates, adding photos, ‘tweeting’, as well as some of the more complicated aspects such as privacy. Because this course is a seminar, no registration is required.  
   
  Other Special Topics Computer Classes  
   
  Several times each year we offer a class that focuses on using the Library's resources. Changing topics have included genealogy (Ancestry Library Edition), consumer information (Consumer Reports and more), and newspapers on the web (Press Dislpay). These classes are posted on the Events calendar when they are offered.
