  Volunteer Program

Volunteers are an important part of the West Vancouver Memorial Library. Our library offers one of the Lower Mainland's only in-library volunteer programs. Currently, over 55 community members volunteer their time every week. The enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteers contributes significantly to making this library a cornerstone of the community.

Please be aware that spaces in the volunteer program are limited and presently our programs are all full. Although we endeavor to speak personally with interested applicants, the high number of applicants means that this is not always possible. Applications will be kept on file for six months. If a space should come available during this time the Volunteer Coordinator will call suitable candidates to arrange for an interview. Please also consider joining the Friends of the Library

  Adult Volunteers

Donating your time is a wonderful way to engage in your local community. Adult volunteers at the library shelf read, shelve paperback books, label paperback books and participate in special projects.

Our Volunteer program is currently full. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer visit the Library to fill out an application form.

  Volunteers with Disabilities

The Library has a limited number of spaces reserved for Volunteers with Disabilities. If you are a parent, caregiver, facilitator or individual with a disability who is interested in volunteering, we would be happy to discuss your specific requirements, but please note that the program is full at this time.

  TEEN VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Volunteering is a great way to learn about how a library operates while developing skills that will look great on your resume! Each teen volunteer is asked to be available for one two-hour shift per week. In addition to being trained to participate in our Book Buddies program, teen volunteers also shelve books and help out with special projects. Please note that this program is presently full.

Some tasks preformed by teen volunteers include:

- Shelve Paperbacks (weekly)
- Shelf read in designated areas (weekly)
- Label paperbacks (occasionally)
- Develop an understanding of the functions and resources of the Library.
- Listen to children practice reading skills
- Encourage and help children to be more confident with their reading skills.

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP - TAG

Local West Vancouver teens have the opportunity to share their opinions and ideas and be the voice for their peers as it relates to the library.
